5 Foods to try eat in Tanzania

PILAU (pronounced P.La.oo)

One food that you would want to try eat out there is this dish. This is rice, cooked with mixed variety of spices of which give it that brownish or yellowish color look and of course a noticeable smell.
Pilau is cooked differently depending on a menu you will find available, some contain meat and some contain dried fruits but yes, it is still eatable if it is just a plain pilau :)
Everyone can enjoy pilau but it might not be the best idea for people who are suffering stomach ulcers due to the fact that it contains a lot of spices including garlic which is not friendly to the bruises. You can find pilau in most of the hotel and restaurants.

UGALI (prounced oo.gah.li)

This now is not the sweetest thing that you  could find around. It is just maize flour cooked out from being porridge to a stiff thing. You shall not expect a great taste out of that huh? But however when there is a good side dish to support the meal, you might probably enjoy it. This dish is sort of a staple food around here, everybody eats it and it is expected to give you a lot of energy. Ugali can be eaten with chicken, beef stew, vegetables, beans etc. It almost goes with everything. Find it in most restaurant or just take a visit to a local family.

However it is unlikely to find this type of food in hotels, not many hotels cook this but for the local food vendors you can try Open Kitchen 0715405000 who cooks by order, so if you really want a feel of this you can just dial the digits.
